|
|
Im looking for work as an english teacher and received an email recently from a recruiter suggesting that I do an online tefl course that "neither requires much time nor money". One suggestion was with www.studyteflonline.com. Said it'll qualify me for consideration in a lot more positions, just having some kind of Tefl cert like that.
That suggested website said its basic course requires 50 hours, so it can be done in a minimum of one week. Anyone know if these things are worth doing or are they a waste of time? |

I would do a 100 hour course. Go to ITTT, it was easy and took about 3 weeks for the 100 hour class, and I got a w200,000 a month raise. |

I'd agree with the Cowgirl on ITTT. I took their class and it has helped me a bit. It is by no means comparable to an in class CELTA or something, but it definitely is good as a refresher on the fine points and has plenty of useful ideas. |

Stay away from the Asian EFL Journal TESOL certificate.
I paid 350 bucks for it and finished it in June. Then the "CEO" stopped replying to my emails and never sent me the certificate.
Apparently this "Dr. Paul Robertson" is based in Busan, so if anyone knows where I can find him, I should like the pay the good Doctor a visit |

I did the ITTT online course with tutor support. It helped to increase my pay in Korea. Even better, I have now landed a job in Saudi, for double the pay! Not bad for a cheap online course! |

From what I've been told by recruiters and schools, the minimum number of hours has to be 100. 50 hours wouldn't qualify. And the TESOL has to be accredited. |
