Is it possible to get one of those sim cards (the one near the battery - so you can talk in Thailand) in Seoul? I have a Korean cell phone but I need a sim card. Anyone know where to get one? Yongsan Electronics Market? |

im not sure if you can or cannot buy one or not in korea. but if you have a korean cell phone. you wont be able to put the simcard in. if you want to buy one however you can buy them at any 7/11 family mart etc in thailand for only a few thousand won. |

So you can get the whole cell phone or just the sim card in a Thailand convenient store?
Thanks |

you'll need a different phone.
you can get a phone in thailand dirt cheap from any one of the shopping malls that litter bangkok. the cheaper and dirtier the building the cheaper the phones.
for less than US$100 you can get a dual sim card touch screen phone with internal memory for music and photos and a pretty good camera. some noname chinese brand however. may not last so long.
brand name phones are also dirt cheap.
they occationally give simcards away free on the street, or you can get one for between 50 and 100 bath.
there stores in the airport you can get a sim card. |

For a hundred bucks you can get a Nokia (but not a cool one), or try Mahboonkrong mall for used ones. 7-11 and many phone shops sell prepaid SIM cards such as 1-Two-Call. Doesn't work in Korean phones even with GSM functionality, Korean USIM also didn't work in non-K phones. Maybe some sort of SIM lock.
You can probably get the SIM already at the airport, but you may want to get away from there as soon as you can (I always do). |

Alright I'll try the airport and 7-11 as soon as I arrive. |

you can definitely get a sim at the airport. find the 7-11 (or some equivalent) there's one on the level between the arrival and departure levels.
but you'll still need a phone to put it in. |
