I'm currently living in Dongbaek (it's a district in Bundang or Yongin, I'm still not entirely sure which since they're both so close). Anyway, I have a friend who lives in Daegu that I want to visit sometime this year. I don't have too much free time, so if I go it would have to be all in one day, a Saturday. Since (as far as I know) there is no Korean version of mapquest, I need some help with the directions. Does anyone know the quickest way I can get there by bus, subway, train, or a combination of them all? Also, what is the earliest in the morning that public transportation starts? Last, has anyone actually traveled there? I'm worried I won't get off at the right stop since I can't understand the bus stop announcement which is in Korean and I was wondering if there was some sort of landmark that I could watch out for.

I live in Daegu ... you would most likely get off at Dongdaegu Station, that is a major stop on KTX and other trains ... the announcement would be in English as well as Korean, but in Korean it is just "Dongdaegu Yuk" so you will be able to understand ... sorry I don't know where Dongbaek is so I can't be of much help ...

I assume you live in Seoul. Go to the nearest KTX station buy a ticket for DongDaegu. The KTX will take around 2 hours from Seoul for about 60,000. Go to www.korail.com click the English tab in the upper right and you can find the schedule there. Other trains are available, slower but cheaper. A bus is gonna be around 3-4 hours. It's easy to get to DongDaegu as it is the main staion area in Daegu.
