Anyone have a CitiGold account? So I was at Citibank yesterday trying to get my BA degree notarized (it's free with my Citi acct) and the guy convinced me (though honestly, it doesn't take too much because I have a hard time walking away) because he said that he would waive the $25 fee for the first 6 months and afterwards that I have to have $100k in the bank. Ha, yeah right. I told him no, I'd be in Asia for up to 10 months not 6. He said okay, I'll tell my manager that you're going to teach children English (a good cause) plus I just opened an account the other day for a high school graduate going to Switzerland, it's not a big deal and I will SAVE YOU SO MUCH MONEY. Pretty much, he said he will waive the fees for the year and that I can call him when I get back and we can close that Gold account and do another account that requires less than $100k and no monthly fees. I can transfer/wire money from Asia to US free of charge. $25 for wiring funds from U.S. to Asia though (but I don't need that), and I can use the ATMs free of the 3% foreign exchange rate charge. Aside from that, I do need to look over all these wordy pamphlets, but does anyone have a CitiGold account that they can tell me if there are any other perks or even hidden fees?? Thanks.
P.S. I read the other posts and even though there are Citibanks in Korea (esp that one in Seoul) it's still 3% to withdraw funds... unless you have the CitiGold account. Actually, you can use the ATM at any bank and it's suppose to all be a flat foreign exchange rate of 3%. Please let me know if this is not true. Thanks. |
