Hi there,
I accepted a job for a hagwan in busan, and I was meant to start next week. I have been waiting for my visa insurance number to come through. I now just recieved an email from my recruiter saying the visa was denied because the school had hired an illegal teacher a few months back and they have been blacklisted until they change the director.
So i'm basically back to square one, .. but this is a nightmare for me because the tenancy on my apartment has expired and im sleeping on friends sofas in the UK.
My main question is this.......... Can i just show up in korea with all my documents and find myself a job?? then go to japan to get my visa??? I have already successfully completed a one year contract in korea, and have since been back in the Uk for 14 months..... i have heard that the fact i have already completed a contract will help in my favor in terms of going to japan to get my visa??.....
Any help would be great,
Thanks

What a complete and utter pile of shit.
Whats happened is that an American with a better CV (read profile photo) has come along and you have been shafted from the job.
If you are British remember one thing - you are secondary against an American teacher - experience and qualifications do not matter - your cv goes in the bin against more or less anybody from the United States.
Seeing as you know the lay of the land - why not go to Korea and find yourself a job. However - Princess (poster on this board) has gone down this route and got nothing even though she has six years hagwon experience. Probably best off waiting for next year. |

yes, you can go to korea and do a visa run to japan once you find a job...due to your previous e2.
yes, you can still find a job in korea but do your research before coming and sort out where you wouldn't mind living. i suggest aiming for a few provincial capitals where you can live comfortably. heading to seoul to find a job may be more of a headache due to the numbers spilling into korea. |
