A tricky problem that no has been able to answer, including the BOE, Korean immigration in Japan and Korea, the Korean recruiter and the British Embassies!
I have dual citizenship and therefore two passports. I lost the British passport with the Korean E-2 visa a few days before I was scheduled to arrive. So, taking the advice at the time from the recruiter I came on my other passport as a tourist.
That appears to have made things worse. Korean immigration is very reluctant to issue another visa on the passport I havent lost. I am in the process of reporting my lost passport to the embassy here in Korea.
Since I am on a tourist visa, I have been told I cant work at my school. There is no doubt I was issued an E2 visa in Japan, Korean immigration in Japan and here can both see this. They have records of it. They seem to give different advice day to day since nobody knows what to do.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Could I ask for a temporary one month or two week working visa until we go through the motions of reporting the lost passport and getting a new one (British)?
Massive kudos to anyone who can solve this riddle. |
