I'm looking for something that isn't shiny, is slim fitting, and can be worn for interviews or weddings.

I cant afford something tailored. Just want something that is decent quality and wont break the bank.

Thanks

Great deals to be had there from time-to-time.

Click on the photos for different locations.

Most of the tailors in Itaewon will make you a 'Grandad' suit. And quality is not guaranteed.

Best bet is a department store with a sale on. Especially if you are a regular size.

Liberate yourself from polyester and rayon blends. Try to avoid red this season.

With that in mind, does anyone know of a tailor in Itaewon (or elsewhere in Seoul) that won't make you a 'Grandad' suit. I want to get one tailored but I am wary of spending a ton of rods on ajosshiwear. I just want something versatile, navy blue three-button or similar. Any suggestions?

I get my suits tailor made at a great shop at Cheonho station (line 5 - exit 8 ) at a place called Lussoso

you choose everything (fabric, material, buttons, color, how many buttons you want, whether you want the back split at the bottom on not, the style of the pockets, etc, etc) - you choose everything - but they also help you out with THIS YEARS fashion and what goes well with YOUR body

You can have one suit tailor made for 280,000won

or purchase 2 suits tailor made for 490,000won

(takes one week to be made - so you have to go back after 1 week for collection)

here are the directions - (map)

To the OP - You can get a perfect suit made that isn't shiny, is slim fitting, is decent quality and can be worn for interviews or weddings and I don't think 280,000won should break the bank.

Only one week to make a bespoke suit? seems fast. How many times do you see them before hand, ie. how many measurements, fittings etc? are you brought in for?

How good is the selection of fabric at the place you mentioned. I have been in the market for a suit for a while, but everyone seems to stock the same thing: All one color, boring, tasteful, run-off-the mill suits.

I would like to find a place that would allow me to dress like Don Cherry.

For those of you who are Canadian, you already know about Don Cherry. For those of you who are not, I will now inform you about Don Cherry: He is the best dressed man in Canada. He also does hockey.

I recently got two Pierre Cardin suits on Gmarket. One navy blue. One charcoal gray. My wife thinks they're the best looking suits I've ever owned.....

.....price? 70,000 each!!!..............why?...........because they're 3-button with no back vents, which is totally out-of-style in Korea right now. Check it out for yourself....go to a dept store and try to find a suit with 3 buttons........I doubt you can. They're ALL 2-button jackets with that angled breast pocket. Yuck.

When a style takes hold in Korea, it REALLY takes hold! They won't sell anything else!!

Suits me just fine. I love 3 button jackets. I suit them more than 2 button. Great.....

Zara - 300,000 - 400,000 won for a good suit. The range changes regularly (like every two weeks) so it can be hit and miss as to whether you find one you like.

The store in COEX sucks, there is another at Young Plaza in Myeongdong in Seoul (I haven't been to that one), and another in Seohyeon (I think) in Bundang (it's in Bundang but can't remember off the top of my head, where it's at...it's where the Lotte shopping mall is) which is an excellent store - big and lots of choice.

I guess they don't come in size 110?

all my suits are 3-button with no back vents (well I do have a double-breasted 6 buttin suit - but rarely wear that).

Sounds good but I guess Gmarket doesn't have size 110 ?

Gmarket also keeps telling me that my internet set up doesn't match their site - because they want Internet Explorer 7 used - but I am using Internet Explorer 8
