I'm from Canada and was hoping someone who filed taxes back home after working in Korea could help me out. How much can I expect to pay in taxes based on a salary of 2.3m per month?
I'm going to go to local tax office when I get home, but just wanted to get an estimate.

Thx!

Write zero down for income earned... Pay no taxes...
If they ever ask you tell them the truth - You were travelling and living without fixed income and have no pay stubs... How are they gonna know what you've made? With the exception of money sent home they're really not going to look too deeply into it I'm sure...
(Ya ya, famous last words... Figure I'll deal with taxes when/if they ever start to question me...)

In total it was about $4000. Make sure you keep any proof that you have paid taxes here like pay statements. I wasn't able to sufficiently prove I paid(actually my old Director was actually pocketing the money). So you may not have to pay as much.

Ignore the Canadian tax office and they should do the same to you. You can build a relationship with them but it won't be fun.

Thanks for the responses!!

Re: telling them I wasn't working, just travelling --> I have a working Visa issued on my Canadian passport...is that okay??

Re: pay stubs - I don't have any pay stubs for pay or Korean taxes paid.
Also, I haven't sent money home - except for transferring some to a relative's account once.

If you're deemed to be a non-resident of Canada, you don't have to file or pay Canadian taxes.

If you're deemed to be a resident of Canada, you must pay Canadian taxes on your world income.
