Yoo Soo-youn has risen from nothing to become a popular English teacher of a string of crammers preparing students for English proficiency tests and earn a yearly income of about W1 billion from her crammers, outside lectures and media appearance. Now, she has published a book in which she tells her story and explains her belief that by giving her best every day, she overcame her lack of degrees from a top-notch university, wealthy family background, or, as she believes, good looks.....

Wow, she has an incredible work ethic. I would never be able to keep up with that schedule on a constant basis. Every time I've done a 12 hour work day teaching, I was burnt out the next day.

I don't admire people that can turn off their feelings and soldier on with incredible hours. These people are like robots and get diseases such as cancer.

It isn't her looks.
It's because she has no social life there is energy for slaving at work for another nickel.
I'll keep my friends and lint in my pocket...

I doubt she makes 1 billion won a year doing what she does; even with her amazing work schedule. Funny though, with such a busy schedule, she can still manage to watch a movie over and over for more than two months. Perhaps she could make a good pin up poster exemplifying the mighty Korean work ethic.

Every time you post I'm more and more convinced that chiropractors are real doctors after all.

Funny what passes for education, eh? Learning to take a test. Learning to get your score up. Learning a foreign language with 200 people in a classroom?

Talented? Doubtful. Opportunistic and morally challenged? Most probably. I've known people like this over the years. After a while, they start believing their own mantras and actually believe that they 'know what students need.' She'll burn it at both ends for a few years, then become the boss of a stable of teachers, all culminating with a franchise. The market and its participants are nothing if not predictable.

Why do you say that? You've been in Korea long enough to know that there are some Korean English "teachers" who make big, big money. She probably teaches, oh, 1,000 students per month, and she probably gets 50,0000 won per student per month. That's 50 mil won a month right there. Add to that her books, Internet lectures, and media appearances, and it's quite possible for her to make 1 billion won per year.

Yes there is no relationship between not resting your body and diseases forming. I guess a real Dr woud give you some drugs to disconnect people from their feelings and body so the person could even do more hours.
