Has anyone ever bought a large screen TV in the states and had it shipped here.

Has it worked?

What were the costs involved?

I was thinking about getting maybe a 50" TV but theyre frickin expensive here and cheap in the US. Just wondering... thoughts/comments?

well my main concern would be the power supply.....
Youd have to use one of those huge adapters and all.
I dont think i would trust that with electronics over a long period of time
on expensive equipment. Theres too much that could go wrong with the shipping aswell especially on a huge 50 inch tv...
Personally i wouldnt risk it or waste money.
Id just buy a tv in korea.

Well the power supply is of no concern. If the label reads, (and all lcd tvs do) INPUT 100-240V it will work fine. You just need to onvert the plug type. I've been using my American laptop and computer for 1.5 years not with no problem. Any appliance that reads 100-240 will work, but you need to read the input voltage.

The issue with electricity isn't only 110/220 is that US uses a different mhz cycle. You will need a converter for the 50/60 MHZ. Most computers have that also, I don't know about TVs.

I can't imagine that the price for the 50" would be that much cheaper once you calculate shipping, Minimum you will pay would be abot 300$ for shipping, and what if you ship it back home.

Your warranty is not covered interantionally, so you will have to pay for any repairs yourself.

Buying in the country you are in is usually the best option. It will save a lot of inconvenience in the long run,

Buy one here, sell it when you go home. Chances are that whatever you save after the shipping expenses is lost once you figure in the rent for a much larger apartment so that you can sit the proper distance away from your 50'' Wink
