|
|
Hi, I was hoping someone here could help me.
I'd like to send some audio/mp3 letters to my girlfriend overseas. How do I go about doing this? I'd like to record some 5 minutes or so letters and send them via email as mp3 files. What software do I need to do this, and where can I get this? I have a microphone that I use for skype conversations; would this be adequate?
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

You'll need a recording software. There's 2 types. One is a recorder that makes mp3 file for you or you could use a .wav file recorder and convert it to mp3 file.
Making .wav file first will give you a clearer sound and you can set it the size you want by converting into mp3 file
FYI... .wav file will be large |

Got a webcam?
A low resolution webcam video of less than 5 minutes would be less than 10mb in size. That's small enough to attach in an email (with Gmail anyway).
Plus, it would be easy. Just press the record function of your webcam software, say your sweet nothings, press stop, open email, attach the video file you just made from your webcam capture folder. Send! |

Usually, webcams have a recording function. |

There are so many options but just to cut to the quick and get yourself mp3s - I'd go with a paid service. 2 bucks a month and you can't beat EVOCA .
See an example on the site where I work - http://setiteachers.ning.com/ Scroll down on the left.
what you get is a page where you can record from evoca. Also, download those mp3s. Also, get an html recorder which you can put on a page / site and have the other person voicemail you. I've tried many but EVOCA is by far the best. Check it out www.evoca.com
for video - use http://12seconds.tv/ Great quality and all is there for you to record and send to the universe. Twitter, facebook, girlfriend/guyfriend. You only get 12 seconds but that's all you really need with video messages. Or also try Bubblejoy. You can send killer video cards, no problem. I use this to introduce lessons all the time and now all my trainees send these all the time. http://www.bubblejoy.com/begin.php
good luck,
DD

There is a free program included with Windows XP, for example, called
Windows Moviemaker (it's probably in Vista, too). You can find it within
the programs list under the START button in the lower-left corner of your
screen. Just click and choose START -> All Programs -> Windows Movie Maker.
This is really easy -- give it a try if you haven't before -- only takes 3
mins. To record your own sample video for online use, do the following:
1. Open the program (Just click and choose START -> All Programs -> Windows
Movie Maker)
2. After it opens, look for the line, "Capture from video device" on the
left-hand side. Click that.
3. If you have a webcam, you should be able to choose the icon from the
list (might be the only one).
4. Set the audio slider level up near the 3/4 mark or so. (You can change
your Audio Device and Source here if there are audio problems -- default
setting will likely be OK)
5. Click NEXT and choose where you want to save the file you record.
6. The following window will ask you for a Video Setting. For web content
choose "Other Settings" followed by "Video For Broadband (150kps)". (you can choose other qualities to experiment with -- higher kps are better, but larger files result).
7. Click NEXT
8. Your webcam should now turn on and you should be able to see yourself.
9. Click START CAPTURE and record yourself saying something short and
simple. Click STOP CAPTURE when done.
10. Click FINISH when done
You have now created a sample video! It will appear within the Windows
Moviemaker program, but you can just close all of that and go to find your video file on the hard drive where you saved it. You can then send it, provided it's not too massively long. Try a small 1 minute sample to gauge size. |
