The songs "Creep" & "Zombie" suck. Please stop playing them!

Seems whenever I see a rock cover band or go to an open mic, someone will eventually play one or both of these no longer tolerable songs.

Enough is enough- stop it now! We've heard them a million times and it just gets worse every time!

"Creep" by Radiohead- I did like this song when I first heard it in '93. Radiohead is a great band and when they put out The Bends & OK Computer, Creep just became a throwaway song that just does not compare to things they did later. The band doesn't even really like the song and wish they were not expected to play it live.
When it first came out, I thought those guitar crunches before the chorus were cool and creative. Now, we know that Jonny Greenwood did that because he hated the song and was trying to mess it up.
In the past 16 years, I have heard this song murdered a million times by cover bands and emo loners. Enough already!
If I hear another cover of "Creep", I may go mental and set on a path of destruction.

"Zombie" by The Cranberries- a crap song by a mediocre band. I don't care that it's about strife in Ireland- it sucks. It drones on forever like a lame Adam Clayton (U2) bass line with lame "grunge" guitar that requires no skill. The lyrics/voice are grating on the nerves like working over your genitals with a cheese grater. This song blows!
If there is a girl singing rock in the bar, it's a good bet that she will sing this song. It's awful!
Every time I hear the chords start up, I want to murder the loser(s) doing it!

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!

No more of these crappy cover tunes!

Its no wonder Zombie is a popular choice at Noraebhangs everywhere. When will they add more decent music to the English menu, so we can avoid getting sick of it after a few songs and end up going to places where we can encounter such lousy coverbands?

I 100% agree. Both songs were decent to begin with but have been completely over played. Especially with Creep, where there are sooo many other classic Radiohead songs to choose from.

I seem to have hit a nerve with a Creep/Zombie fan.

Koala, as JMO said, Radiohead has tons of great songs to choose from. With the Cranberries, not really, but why not choose a different song?

Those two songs are not good and hearing them murdered a million times would annoy the hell out of any sane person.

As for great songs, there are literally millions to choose from.

Why do they keep going for these two crap songs?

Add to that list- Violent Femmes.

They SUCK! Way over-rated!

The guy had an annoying voice and the lyrics were stupid.
The songs are just annoying. They had a pretty good bass player, but
that does not redeem it. Enough with the damn Violent Femmes!
They are easy to cover and drunk women love to sing and dance along
so it guarantees they will be covered ad nauseum by bar bands.

Stop the insanity!

Creep, Zombie, and Violent Femmes SUCK!

The nail's head has been hit!

The average drunken bar crowd demands familiarity. Partly because the crowd's minds are challenged enough by the booze and partly to help certain parts of the crowd to take home other certain parts of the crowd by agreeing on how "great" this song is, regardless of said parts' actual opinions of said song.

I understand what you're saying, but I've found that I have more fun when I stop caring about stuff like this. If I'm out at a noraebang and someone puts on a terrible song, it's more fun to sing it with feeling than to pout in the corner with my beer.

Cranberries. And come on; creep is pretty much the only radiohead song you can sing in noraebangs. Yeah. you try singing Exit Music or, better yet, fake plastic trees /the bends. good f'in luck.

the only other radiohead that is just barely singable is let down, and I don't think i've seen that as an option at many noraebangs.

Does anyone else also rick roll their friends? Everytime I'm at a noraebang I always rock the Astley. The koreans usually dig it and don't see the irony and i do my imitation astley dance it's good times.

I'm not a big RH fan, but I'm pretty good at Exit Music. Kind of a downer at the NRB singing "I hope that you choke" over and over again at the end though.

This isn't about the noraebang!

It's about cover bands and open mic nights.

I haven't been in a noraebang since 2004 and I avoid them like the plague because it's all bad.

This thread is about the overplaying of two already overplayed crap songs by cover bands and open mic players.

Bronski, I know you have the right attitude and I generally try not to slag off people who want to play live. We need as much live music as we can get!

There are songs and bands that become cliches at cover gigs and open mic nights:
Stones
Creedance
Oasis
any 12 bar blues jam

I usually get a few beers into me and enjoy the music.
However, the continuing bad renditions of these two bad songs- Creep & Zombie- is really doing my head in.
Make it stop! Please make it stop!
