|
|
I have a question that I need some input on. Can you please let me know what you think of the following?
A Korean teacher asked me whether or not the directions for the exercise below are correct or not. Although I think they could be improved, are they WRONG as is?
---------------------------------
Complete the sentences using the words from the word box and rewrite.
[care, drive, teach]
1. My friend really wants to English in Korea. ________________
2. I always to work. ________________
3. Take and see you again soon. _______________
--------------------------------
I know that what students are expected to do is obvious once you read the sentences ... but ....
* Is "Complete" being used correctly?
* Isn't rewrite a transitive verb?
Thanks for any opinions. |

Complete the sentence using the words from the box and then rewrite them on the line. |

The sentences have no blanks in them, so they are already complete, but incorrect.
"Correct and rewrite each of the sentences below, using the appropriate words from the word box." |

It all depends on whether or not the students are already trained to interpret the directions the intended way. Personally, I would put the blanks in the right place, NOT on the right. |

I would probably add a statement that the following sentence are scrambled or out of order or some such and a word is missing then the "Complete the sentences....." |

Thanks for the above ideas and opinions. I really appreciate them. Since nobody has said "They are fine as is." I wonder if I can say that they
are "wrong". |

Just say they are unclear.
Better instructions might be, rewrite each sentence, correctly using 1 word from the word box.
or
Correctly rewrite each incomplete sentence using the appropriate word from the word box. |
