The search function sucks. How many times do I have to get a php error?
I saw a thread on here the other day that answered this and if someone could kindly link that I'd appreciate it.
Otherwise, here's the situation (parents went away on a weeks vacation? Sorry). SMOE hired me issued my visa and told me to stay home, now I'm looking at BFE positions elsewhere (graciously accepting whatever comes my way). If I was hired by an EPIK school, could they transfer the visa without much trouble? Given I haven't worked a day on the SMOE contract. |

EPIK schools will expect a new set of documents from you. Your documents will be presently sitting in the Seoul office of education gathering dust ; NOT in any immigration office.
The EPIK office is in a different location to SMOE.
Someone in SMOE would have to agree to send your papers to the province or city offering you an EPIK contract. Can't see them being proactive or flexible enough to do this kind deed for you - no matter how badly they have messed up your plans.
The offices of education keep their public school teachers CRC and all papers and the the immigration offices keep all the hagwon and visa number teachers papers.
If you get a hagwon position that you would get a visa number for immigration will not have you (or your papers) on record yet. You will have to do a new process and provide paperwork again for your new school to submit for the visa number.
The present visa stamp in your passport expires in 90 days if you do not enter Korea. You are stuck with this for this time so why not fly to Korea on this visa stamp and enter Korea and sort it from there directly and take new papers with you. At least you can fly on a one way ticket if you want to with the visa you already have. Then just turn up in person at SMOE and demand all your papers back and a release letter? |
