Human smuggling at Coutts border
CFCN.ca

POSTED AT 12:08 PM Tuesday, February 24

RCMP officers in Southern Alberta say they have broken up a human smuggling ring after an investigation centring around the Coutts border crossing.

Police say the ring was attempting to smuggle Koreans across the Canadian border with the U-S.

American officials picked up one man on their side of the Coutts crossing near the border with Montana on Sunday night.

The RCMP picked up a second man on the Canadian side.

They also found three men and seven women in a nearby motel.

All 12 people had Korean passports and are in custody at the Calgary Remand Centre.

None of the men and women speak English.

The funny thing is I met a teacher not long ago who reported suspicious activity of groups of Koreans from Seoul to Canada and the North American police service turned on the teacher thinking the "eavesdropping" information was incredibly "far-out." Advice: don't report suspicious conversations/behavior to the police!

The contradiction: Go home Yankees- and leave us some room in your motor-home so we can join you.

Not too long ago I scoffed at someone here who said this sort of thing was taking place- looks like I owe somebody an apology (but I can't remember who it was).

Bulsajo,

This stuff has been going on for a LONG time and has been covered in the news as well. At least in Vancouver it has. Why did you scoff at it?
