I am thinking about resigning from my school, I have been there 5 and a half months (too long). In the contract it says you must give 2 month notice, and you will be paid up until the day you leave.

Now if I was to hand in my notice at the point of 5 and a half months, is there any loophole, or wording that I have missed.. that would hold me liable to pay the airfare back to them ? Because if I do the two months notice, I will be leaving after 7 and a half months. Which surely would mean I don't owe them that airfare back...

I would like to point out, it says in the contract that I am liable to pay the airfare back if I leave before 6 months.

I'm trying to get out as quick and reasonably as possibly... any replies would be most welcome.

Thank you

That's a good question. I was wondering that myself. Not that I'm going to leave, but at times I felt like it. Out of curiosity, what's your reason for leaving? You're best bet might be to call your office (GEPIK or EPIK) and ask anonymously about that clause in our contracts.

Well I have numerous reasons, really too many to list.. just had enough and want it over as quick as possible. Hence why I cant wait for the 6 months to be sure... ANYONE PLEASE CLARIFY!?

Tried to email my recruiter, but very quiet that end.

Well, they can easily come up with some reason that you aren't working out and fire you. And you're out the money.

Just out of curiousity, why are you unable to wait two weeks to put in your notice, but say you are going to work the 2 months? If you can last two months, surely you can wait 2 weeks to tell them?

Anyway, the school will probably fire you because they think you aren't going to work the next two months, and so if they fire you now, at least they get their airfare back.

Either way, I hope it works out for you. If you are leaving for good and not coming back, and the place is really bad, I would wait until after the 6 months. That way you don't have to worry about it and if they fire you sooner, better for you.

Just ive had enough of the place, paying me late and pulling all sorts of shit on me.. just want out, but with some money in my pocket.. hoepfully.. if they pay me that.. sit tight and bite my tongue i think

thanks for that reply

No problem, just all around best for you to wait. Chances are, especially if they aren't that great of people, they will fire you when you put in your notice either immediately, or as soon as they hire someone else to replace you.

Why don't you just wait a couple weeks so it doesn't become an issue? It won't matter, they have your last pay, so if you leave then it will be hard to collect on it.
