Do a search for user "asmith" and you'll read about it more than just a couple of times. Laughing

By Christmas, Korea will have to devalue the won so that strapped Americans will be able to buy their imports.

Of course, Obama might start sending out checks to Americans so that they will have some purchasing power during the holidays.

Wait for the retail numbers concerning Black Friday. Should let us know one way or the other.

We really are in a depression. Why don't people understand this? I have no idea.

My salary is already lower than it was last month, because of the exchange. I'm expecting to be making less per hour than Ontario's minimum wage, by Christmas.

asmith, you're calling THIS a depression now? The fire is just getting warmed up... the fallout will start next year I'm guessing... what's happening now is just a big setup for the next great depression Sad

The feds will try one last time to pump up the markets so all the insiders can sell into the strength. Get out while you can...

As for the won, there's not much we can do...

Oh, we understand it, asmith. It's just that, living here, it's easy to forget when all the Koreans I know, all the kids in Jongno and Myeongdong and Shinchon are still spending and partying like it's the go-go late '80s / early '90s. Take a stroll around the hotspots of Seoul any weekend or any weeknight, and behold the parade of wealth and confidence and carefree abandon. Even in the hardscrabble working-class districts of Seoul you see a staggering number of European cars.

Kimchi prevents depression. Mental and economic.

(confused dog jpg) The won's at 1230. If anything it got a bit stronger by 20 or so won since last month.

Well, since I'll be getting married soon and planting my roots here, I think I'll just ride this one out.

I only hope this would lead to bloodshed.

It will. In another 6 months to a year, you are gonna see Wall Street big shots and politicians start to get murdered.

They might be too big to fail. But they ain't too big to die.
