Anybody know anything about this place or similar ones where public school teachers are sent by the government for TESOL training on a short-term basis?

The whole "camp" thing is new to my Korea ESL industry experience.

They started having them for kids in hakwons when I was here in the late 1990s - but I never did one. I was supposed to with my hakwon one year, but that was the year a Korean kids camp had a horrific fire that killed a good number of children and adults. It was terrible, and planned camps disappeared that year...

Anyway, a position I'm in talks with offered to include a 4 week stint or a regular job at this Yeongwol center in Gangwon-do to work with SMOE public school teachers...

I'll be visiting my mother-in-law regularly in Wonju - especially the first few months that I'm here in Korea - So I am familiar with and actually like the setting in Gangwon-do. It reminds me of the moutain areas near where I'm from in Georgia.

Any info or advice on this kind of camp would be appreciated...

Yesterday I was offered a job here, and I'm looking for information and insight about it too. If you found any decent information on this or have worked there, maybe you can let me know.

Thanks

I would strongly advise any potential teachers to steer clear of the town of Yeongwol. It really is a shitty town save for a few locals but more importantly the teaching and conditions there are horrendous.

If this is the local college rebranding themselves of their previous name Saekyung College, then save that amount of time of your life. There is no college from California with any affiliation to a school in this dilapidated excuse for a village.

Please avoid at all costs.

I have a review posted here.

And another posted here.

Where did you find this job? Link?

All the best!

I don't know if this place was once or is affiliated with Saekyung College - although I found these links...
