it sucks - i'm never doing that again. took forever for the first train to come, then i passed out on it and woke up at the end of the line, had to ride it back two stops to transfer. took so long to get home that i had to hit up McD breakfast, then i couldn't get to sleep for awhile because i was basically sober at this point. 16,000 won taxi + 20-30 minute trip = pass out drunk at home at 5:45. 1100 won subway + 90 minute trip + 4700 won McD = sleep at 8 a.m. would have totally been worth the extra 10k for the taxi.

Further proof that travel "broadens the mind."

McDonalds saved you? Geezus man I don't mean to be cruel but I wonder if you should have ever been issued a passport.

Study some Korean and at minimum learn to read and say tube station stops. (tube =metro=subway)

What? What does falling asleep on the train have to do with studying Korean?

You're the kind of person who gives Itaewon a bad name. Everyone is thinking this. You should be thinking this.

Don't be "that foreigner" that passes out drunk on the subway or pukes in the taxi. Either man up and learn to hold your liquor or don't try to drink with the big boys.

All true, yet all stupidity at the same time. God bless his heart.

wow, so much venom. i don't really need to defend a love of Egg McMuffins after a night out or falling asleep on a subway at 6:30 in the morning, do I? and what the hell does any of that have to do with my Korean language or travel ability? i wasn't the only one on that train to pass out and miss my stop, and everyone joining me in my subway walk of shame (from the exit at the end of the line and back to the entrance going the other way) was, in fact, Korean. i may fail in some matters, but my drinking cred, travel cred, and overall Itaewon cred are beyond reproach. i'll take a taxi next time, just like i did every other time before last night.

I will second this- after a kickass night of binge drinking and all-out partying, a friend of mine, Roger, passed out at the Hangangjin subway station and woke up to find his cellphone, wallet, glasses and shoes were missing.

Again, it's just continuing the Itaewon foreigner stereotype that makes people think that all white men that come to Korea to get drunk, take the subway and miss their stops and steal Korean women and make Korea less sparkling. Sad, but true.

But for all intents and purposes- WE are not the ones that give Korea that *sparkling shine- I think it is the "street pizza" found outside every Korean bar that gives Korea that ever-needed twinkle Wink

Yea, I remember being in Osaka one time, and I had to get home which was in Kyoto. I was holding on to one of those bars for dear life.

I am going to guess that he missed his transfer at Taerung. He was heading north into Nowon. Amirite?
