So I have a couple bills at home that have to be paid with a US account. I'm going to have to send money home, but I don't want to spend the money to do a wire transfer. Is it possible to send the money through mail? I know its risky, but my options are limited and paying $30-40 dollars to wire $320 dollars is just a little ridiculous... Any advice would help.

What bank do you have? I have KB and it costs me about 15 dollars to wire about 750 dollars home a month. Go to your bank and ask about wire transfer options. Western Union is a ripoff but your bank will be able to do it for pretty cheap.

I have Daegu Bank here, not sure on the fee, but the one at home is National City and they were telling me at least $25 for the wire. Meaning in total I would be spending $40 if I go by the $15 estimate...

Wow that sucks. Do you have a relative who has a credit union account? My credit union back home doesn't charge anything for wire transfers. I don't know if that's for most credit unions or if I just lucked out, but you might want to ask around your family or find a way to open a new account back home.

I actually hear very good things about Woori internet banking - they encourage you to use it by going easier on the fees.

My bank at home(US) is a flat rate of $20 no matter the amount. Here Nong Hyup I pay a % of the amount I send home. For example I sent home about $3000 and was charged 28,000 won. I am going today to set up internet banking at Nong Hyup and I will see if it is cheaper through that method.
