Does anyone know of a way to transfer funds from a Korean Bank account to an American Account from outside of Korea?
I'm in a bind. I finished my contract in July and have returned the the US. For a number of reasons I had to return home before my final months pay and severance were deposited into my account. Despite providing my employer with all of the necessary information to make an international wire transfer, they chose to deposit my money into my Korean Bank account (I suspect this was yet another attempt to screw me over after refusing to reimburse my flights).
My account is with Busan Bank. I have tried calling them but only seem to get automated messages asking me to punch in numbers.
Though I am tentatively planning on returning to Korea for a lawsuit against my employer, I need my money now. I have checked online and know the money is there. I just don't know how to retrieve it.
Any help is greatly apprecieated. |

| I am bumping this up. I hope someone responds. I am leaving Korean the day after my contract ends and am not sure how I will be able to receive my funds for my flight reimbursement and pension after I have left.... |

| Do you have a reliable friend (preferrably Korean) still living here who could help you out? I'm sure if they walked into a branch and explained the situation, someone there could tell them what you should do or even allow your friend to do it for you. |

Unfortunately there is a law here that allows employers to pay you up to 14 days after you finish your contract with them... They probably deposited your money in the Korean bank account because that doesn't cost them anything (whereas wiring money to you would). You can get it, but I believe you will need to find someone who can wire the money to you as a favor.
Before you return to Korea to get involved in a lawsuit, call a couple labor/civil lawyers who can let you know what your options are. Initial consultation is free, whether you decide to hire them or not.
I can give you the names and numbers of one labor lawyer and one civil lawyer if you can PM me. |
