If you were to write a screen play about living and teaching in Korea what kinda scenes and characters would you include?

A love story, of course. Lonely foreigner falls in love with local girl, but their love is threatened by her parents or her gangster past (has to be gangsters somewhere). Lots of Lost in Translation humorous misunderstandings. Korea has to be immaculately clean and nice so that the movie isn't picketed more than it will be anyway.

Too many people in the Waygook thread.
A love story would fit. But how about making it a comedy/love story?"

I really thought I would get more people to respond.

Yes, a comedy would be best. Lots of funny random incidents. Young, cute, nice guy out of college comes to Korea. He pushes buttons in his apartments and weird things happen. He gets bugged by Mormon missionaries on the subway. He can't take the spice levels. The girl is also nice, or is a bad girl trying to be good. The family doesn't approve, or she is haunted by her past. Finally he wins them over with his well-meaning screwups or the gangsters are so inept that they do themselves in. A chase scene where he is trying to tell the taxi driver to turn here, no there, to elude the gangsters and the driver doesn't understand, and through dumb-ass luck they prevail.
Lots of freaky characters (who aren't Korean, because God forbid Korea be portrayed badly, apart from endearing quirkiness); a co-worker who claims he's a womanizer and always loses the girl. A feminist; a vegan; someone who calls everyone 'dude.' Lots of stock characters. Basically, Love Actually set in Korea, except that Hugh Grant's too old. He can play the main character's dad.

The plot of Point Break. Directed by Michael Bay. In the near future, this will be every movie.

My screenplay... it would have to also be a love comedy, but I'd also make it a musical with several epic dance scenes. I haven't quite decided how that would work out, but that'll come later.

As for the actual story, hmm... let's see... I think it would probably follow the lives of two foreigners- a male and a female. They first meet on the plane coming into Korea, and then seperate after that, both leading their lives in whatever city or town they're placed in. They'd probably meet again when their time is up and they head back on the same plane.

Of course, like everyone else, there would be a cast of crazy, zany characters of both the Korean and Waygook variety. Odd occurances, and all that jazz. Shuffle in some romance in there too of course. They'd all have their oddities too;

-A groupie girl
-A hot (but dangerous) seductress.
-The hippie/artsy girl
-The double-personality chick
-The cute, but funny and smart coworker

For the guys...
-The witty and a bit arrogant european
-The Starcraft master
-The wannabe gangster
-The well travelled fella

Of course, for who our two heroes will fall for, no idea.

There will be tons of cheesiness. Probably.

I'd go for something slightly different - a comedy action movie.

A Canadian CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) agent comes to South Korea to hunt down a rogue North Korean terrorist who is hiding out in the South. However, the agent needs some cover, so he arranges to pretend to be an English teacher at schools in various cities along the way as he hunts down the terrorist. While he's a good secret agent, the main character doesn't know anything about teaching English, so he has to make it up as he goes along, adding to the humour.

Along the way he meets, of course, a cast of zany and humorous characters - Korean and foreign. As well the movie would be a good way to sample different locales in Korea. In the end he catches the terrorist and goes home, but the movie would end with him coming back to Korea to visit all the friends he made there.

So far we've all agreed on 'zany,' 'dancing,' 'gangsters,' and a love story. Shouldn't this movie be set in India and not Korea? Cool

I am now. >.< He would've done well in the dance portions of this film. He'd be one of the veterans in Korea. At one point he'd have a dance off against an adjossi and in the end, they would've realized that they're not all that different, and would've been the best of friends.

It would've been quite epic.

Dude, that's just asking for Kentucker4 to sue for misappropriating his life.
