Hi Everybody,

Really trying hard to go to China. I wrote last week regarding Korean immigration rules but it seems the real concern is with Chinese immigration. As many of you may know (but I didn't), China does not allow any foreigners with a Korean visa to visit China UNLESS they have at least six months remaining on their Korean work visa. Even if your visa expires, they won't let you go to China from Korea.

Upset, I called the Canadian embassy and they told me that some Canadians are applying for a chinese visa in Canada by mailing their passport to a relative in Canada to do for them. My question is this: Does anybody know someone who has done this? Secondly, wouldn't the Chinese immigration (when you arrive in China) figure out that you circumvented the new law and possibly refuse you entry?

Anyway, again I am so appreciative of any help that is offered. This forum has been good to me. I have been here for three years and I always wanted to go to China when I was finished. Its proving to be a lot of headaches but I'm not giving up. Thanks again for your help.

That's news to me. When I went to get my visa for China it was well after being in country for 6 months- this was right after the Olympics. Where did you go to get the visa? Myeongdong?

It's a very recent thing - maybe a month or two ago.

I didn't know about not being able to go to China when your contract ends. Would it be possible to do a third country stopover and then go to China without any problems?
