My school had it first confirmed case of H1N1 yesterday. (Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do)

So far my school has done nothing to either clean the classrooms, supply cleaning materials, and inform the people of it.

In fact, this was only mentioned to the Korean teachers, and not to the foreigners. I only know because a Korean friend told me.

Has anyone had something like this at their schools?

Does anyone know what the Korean government/local authorities have done to prevent or have in place to combat H1N1??

Any news etc on the steps needed to be taken in Korea would be welcome.

Also any news on what Korea/schools are doing to combat this?

What should we do in Korea? Will we get fired if we cant go to school and teach due to being ill?

calm down. even the rural schools have cases of the virus. just because someone has it doesn't mean everyone is going to die.

as far as I can see, the K-government is urging people to wash their hands and not cough on each other, and there is a lot more hand sanitizer gel readily available than there was before. so basically they are up to the same level of cleanliness standards that we all grew up with 20 years ago in the west. oh wait, except they still don't have hot water or soap in most of the washrooms.

you should do nothing other than what you normally do; practice good hygiene, try not to touch anything that your dirty kids touch, get lots of good nutrition and sleep, and don't worry about it.

You should be on a strict kimchi diet:

kimchi and rice for breakfast

kimchi jjigae for lunch

kimchi kimbab and kimchi ramyeon for dinner

That should ensure that you don't get sick. Ever.

I had a scare this morning, but it turned out to only be a slight cold and a throat infection. I managed to miss most of my classes waiting in the hospital though, the place was packed. Fine by me, my throat hurts like hell.

When aren't the hospitals packed? They go crazy here over the slightest cold.
