Seems like when I put up a post, it first gathers a consistent 44 to 48 reads and then hovers there for a while until someone posts something else.

I'm guessing that there are only about 48 "actual" posters here who are registered, but that there are also many socks.

sadly, I'd count as one of the 48 (as would you) since I totally get what you're saying. . .I thought it was 46 however

As a semi regular poster here, I propose that we all adopt the following creed.
I'm inspired by some of the creeds that the US Army has chosen to adopt for various things.

The ESL Cafe Creed (proposed)

I am a Regular Poster at Daves ESL Cafe.
I am my own sock.
I am a master of twisting words, taking things out of context, and blowing things out of proportion.
I will change positions, stories and life histories whenever I feel like it.
I will routinely lie, exaggerate and obstruct the truth for the sole purpose of my amusement/your annoyance.
I will without warning disappear for a month because I found a life offline and reappear at random to ask you what the He!l you think you're talking about.
I will flame, slander and hijack people without regard or respect for their personal opinions.

It's really only 47- you have to remember not to count Gollum and Derrek as two people.

I don't post as much as I used to, but my lifetime average probably still puts me in the 48.

By the way, if a person has a split personality, does that count as two subjects or one? Are we so hung up on the corporal body? I say we grant gollum/derrek status as at least 1.5 posters. Now yata boy and chronic pride are distinct enough that even if they only occupy one physical body, which I have no idea whether is true or not, their well developed and autonomous personalities still should qualify as two posters. Confused
