Just wondering if I can bring one of my parents to stay long term. My wife and I are planning to have kids and would love it if the fam could come and stay in Korea for about a year to be part of our kid's life. Of course they might need to work teaching English while here.

I'm on an F-2.

Just wondering what people know about this.

Can it be done?
Do you need to be F-5?

Your spouse can sponsor an F-1 (family visitation) visa, but your family member(s) couldn't teach English with it. Otherwise, they would need an E-2 visa to teach legally.

O-well. Kinda good, kinda bad. Nice that they can come, lame that they can't support themselves while here, as I hope to have them here for a long time. Suppose I will have to look into being able to get them E-2 visas.

Thanks.

So, basicly you want free childcare from the Grandparent and you want them to support themselves while here. Damn, that's cheap. :D

Either that or both he and his parents would like to be part of their grandchildren's life and they might have the good fortune to arrange a situation where it'd be economically viable.
