Just curious if anyone else witnessed this scrap. It was around 4am in front of the KFC in Itaewon on Friday night/Saturday morning.

One really drunk guy with his white friend (maybe girlfriend) was talking all kinds of crap to everyone around him. My friends and I heard him approach one guy and yell in his face "YOU ARE LAME" when he was talking to some girl. He did the exact same thing to some other, slightly bigger guy a while later. The bigger guy kind of turned towards him and said something we weren't able to hear and suddenly the drunk mouthy guy sucker punched him in the side of the head.

The bigger dude, who had obviously been in a fight or two before, kept his composure, grabbed the guy's shirt, circled around and jostling him a little until finally landing two really hard rights (one straight jab and a hook on the button of the jaw) which caused the mouthy kid to hit the ground. The bigger guy then wound up and kicked him in the face causing blood to spatter everywhere. All of us just yelled to the guy "You better get home before the cops get here man" as people ignored the bloody corpse writhing on the ground. Nobody backed the mouthy kid.

Too many of these horribly drunk, crap talking foreigners out and about on weekeneds thinking there will be no consequences to their actions. Kinda nice to see one of them get what was coming to them.

That's generally one of the reasons I try to stay away from Itaewon.

And there I was thinking it was just the horrible, crappy Brits and their attitude problems when mixed with alcohol that partook in this kind of behavour. Glad to see our colonial cousins are no better in that regard! Very Happy

Most of the Americans I met over in Korea were complete arseholes - more should get their jaw tanned in the middle of Iteawon at 2am - it would serve as some kind of natural justice!

Ha ha, I wish I was there!
Itaewon has not changed a bit, as far as the fights are concerned. It's usually G.I.'s that are to blame- but 4am sounds like they should have all been back on base due to curfew. Probably just another dummy English teacher giving us all a bad name.-- Kudos for drilling him into the ground.
Back when I was in the service here in Korea, I seen some good scuffles in Itaewon. Back then there was no curfew. The best one was when I seen one guy get surrounded by a group of thuggish NFL's (I won't say what it stands for- but its a fraternal African-American group formed within the military-- highly prejudice against anyone else that wasn't of African American decent). Well, this one guy that was being surrounded had a friend that went into a bar, ordered a beer (uncapped), and went out to one of the other guys in the group and clocked him over the forehead. The man immediately crumbled to the ground, blowing bubbles in his own pool of blood, beer, and glass. The 2 men found the chance to run off.

Hey I'm no ultra pacifist and it sure sounds like "mouthy guy" deserved to be throttled, but the kick to the face when he was down seems a little excessive to say the least. Let's hope the big guy decides against a career in law enforcement. Just saying.

Brits, like Koreans, are very sensitive and confrontational when drunk - best to avoid if your not part of their circle. That's probably why they get a bad name in Europe.

Who said anything about the guy being American? There are "white guys" from Britain, no?Maybe just wishful thinking on your part. This behavior fits Brits more than it does Americans anyway.

No Brit I know of would shout 'YOU ARE LAME' or use them as fighting words! Laughing

I think I can speak for the Aussies, Kiwis and Saffers on this regard.

I don't remember anyone mentioning the colour of the participants skin - why does that matter?

The guy was white and definitely North American. Not sure from where exactly but he was certainly an English Teacher - of the bitter, complaining, c-blocking variety.

Oh man sounds pretty gruesome.

I'll never forget growing up in Seoul with my father who was a G.I. but had great respect for the Korean people (married one!) took me out to eat in a restaurant. My dad was in street clothes while there were 2 GI's in uniform drunk at the bar. One yelled "hey gook, I need another beer!" He was served the beer and the other said the same. Long story short they were purposely being stubborn and eventually pushed one of the smaller Koreans there. Then 3 big Koreans got up and beat the hell out of the 2 GI's. Punching and kicking the hell out of them.

My dad just sat there watched and told me to never be idiots like those guys.
