I've been there before but not on my dime. I'm cheap, therefore, I want to get the most out of my 4 days there this time (now I'm paying). I like Jazz, art, hip hop, temples, shrines, and of course WOMEN. Actually if we can combine all of these activities with women somehow I'd be a happy nappy. Ok...ok too shallow. Let's go for 50%. Seriously, please send me some of your good ideas of how to occupy my time while I'm in Osaka.

Go to Kyoto. It's 45 minutes away from Osaka by the Japan National Railroad and it's jampacked with beautiful temples, shrines, and more. Lonely Planet mentions some good walking tours. I wish I could be more specific on stuff to see there, but all I can tell you is that I was completely in awe during the 8 hours I had to spend in Kyoto.

If you're doing the visa run to the Korean Consulate, you're halfway to America Mura (the American Village), where, if you want, there are Japanese guys driving low-riding 1963 Chevys and aping the 'American Graffiti scenario. Hang a left,and there's an actual Hotel California; such a lovely place, where you can check out, but you can never leave. True. Your Lonely Planet will point you in the right direction. And a decent accommodation and a good breakfast as well. Such a lovely place; when I was there last, it cost about 7000 yen, not the cheapest room in town, but hey, it's the Hotel California.

If your THAT cheap, stay in a capsule hotel and don't leave ecxept to eat noodles at the local mart. You can sit in your capsule and watch porn for four days. With all the money you saved you can buy a blowup doll.

Check out under lounge... on friday or saturday they play hip hop. Biggest club in Osaka.... plenty of tidy women

Good deal. I've walked through that "America" spot. It seemed pretty cool. I wanted to check it out again. I'll give it and Kyoto a whirl. Thanks a lot. Hey Tiger, I love the icon.

Get out of exit 6 at Shinsaibashi station (on the Midosuji line next to Namba). Go straight out of the exit, pass the covered shopping street and not too far on your right is a place called Bar Isnt It, on the second floor. All the drinks are 500 yen, thats about as cheap as it gets there. Oh, and lots of women on the weekend.

If you want to go a farther, you can go to Ishibashi station(Hankyu Takarazuka line from Umeda) to this bar called Orugan. All the drinks are 300 yen but not as many women.

the martini bar is also pretty cool, in the vicinity of sam and daves... over 50 types of martinis everything on the menu 500 yen or less.

first of all, osaka is great. but bring lots of dough as everything is expensive. yes, stay in a capsule hotel and eat at the noodle shops or fast food. save enough cash to at least have one good meal -- i would recommend sushi. if you like sushi, you might as well try it in japan! the namba/shinshabashi areas are the best for night life and, thus, meeting women. pick up a copy of the japan zine ( a lot of bars in that area have them) and see what is happening -- should be plenty of clubs and djs, events, etc. there are also hostess style clubs in the area if you enjoy paying for companionship.

do you know the Martini Bar in Atlanta? If you've ever been there, is it similar to the Osaka spot?
