I teach a class for the mothers at my school, and i'm always struggling for ideas. I seem to have played Family Fortunes (Feud) and Monopoly a hundred times, as well as printing out news stories for the 5 W's, and it's all wearing a bit thin!
There are only 5 of them, and they're not super interested in anything too academic. I just want some fun ideas that will get everyone talking, as well as having them them feel like they're learning a little.
Any help is appreciated... |

You have only five? You are lucky. Have 26 and they want my Korean teacher to make lesson plans. I tried to explain to my Korean teacher the mothers may not want to learn what we have to teach them and to be prepared. |

I only laugh at this fact: Since when did the kids want to learn?
It is a beast, try to keep them involved by teaching them words that involve their daily lives. Shopping at the store, cooking, other descriptions they can work into a daily routine that doesn�t change much. Then make a game out of who can keep talking in English the longest, or who can say the most items in a room.
I know I learned kitchen words a hell of a lot faster because I was a chef, well cook, and I can see it's similar for those who have a hobby. You learn around the interests you have or the life you live. A lesson plan is a guide, the student is the path.
Good luck, and try to build from their daily life. |
