In April of this year I mistakenly only reported the income that I actually earned in the USA and not the income earned in Korea on my 1040ez. Now I've heard that I should have reported my income in Korea even though I don't owe the US Govt any taxes on it.
Anyone know how to file a correction to my 1040ez?
Thanks! |

Frankly, I don't think you have much to worry about.

Despite dozens of taxation threads, I have never seen a single post on this forum in which someone indicated any trouble with the IRS for their ESL fortune and their lavish hagwon lifestyle. It was an honest mistake, just do it right next year.

Thanks Trevor - I like your avatar btw. |

Trevor covered it all. On both main points.
I've always been over-meticulous about filing for years I only lived and worked in Korea.
Good faith estimates are all that's required.
Unless you have some consuming guilty conscience about this one year, let that one go and do it right next time. |

My butt hole is quite sore from all the love the IRS gives me. I hate those people so much. I hate them worse than cancer. They lost my 1040's two years in a row, then when refiled, they ask where I got the information for them. The information that they sent me when they asked for me to refile. They say they don't have an address for my foreign tax exemption form. In a letter, mailed 3 times to my address here in Korea. On three different times. After I called and confirmed said address THREE DIFFERENT TIMES.
The IRS can go audit itself. Mod edit that, why don't you?! |
