So the hockey season has started. The two korean teams faced off in Anyang today, if you like goals this was the place to be. 8-6 for the visiting team was the final.

The Asian league desperately needs video review. Last year I saw an absolutely atrocious call by a white ref (could be russian or western).
He turned away from the play and while he was turned away two plays innocently bumped shoulders. It was a very light hit. However one of the players was standing a little funny and fell down. The other guy basically helped him up
but as the ref turns around what does he see? one player on the ice.
arm up. tripping!

This year in the first game of the season, the ref blows the whistle. At least a second (maybe more) later the puck rolls over the line. The ref was about to point to the circle for a face-off suddenly pulls a mcgeough and goes nuts behind the net calling a goal.

To the Korean fans credit they knew the rules and knew this guy was out to lunch.

Though each year it is getting better. This year it is a two ref system, like the NHL and teams can't change on an icing, however its still no touch icing.. if you're not going to let them change, let them go for it..

Anyang Halla also have a broadcast contract with SBS Sports this year for the first time so if you get SBS sports you should be able to catch the games on there.

A little tip if you're going to go to a lot of games. Buy the membership card. 10,000 and it saves you 2,000 each game. General seating is only 5,000 with the card.

The games sell out, so get there 1 hour before game time to buy your ticket. You can only buy tickets 1 hour before. Even though its the first game of the season it was standing room only and I counted at least 200-300 people standing behind the seats.

and it wasn't all bad, I won a popcorn maker!

and if you were a pair of girls wearing a red and green shirt with a group of foreigners dancing it up crazy and want a couple shots of yourselves, send me a pm and I'll forward them to you.
