not that im seeing anyone of questionable age. just had several conversations about it lately with different people at different times. nobody seems to have a firm answer. some have said 18 western age, others 19 western age, some 16 western age, some 19 korean age, others 21 korean age. and cant find anything on the esl law pages either.
so, if someone could just point me to a source, especially a law that'd be great. |

| Korean law is a very, very vague thing. Technically it's very young. For all practical purposes, it's post-high school if you're past undergraduate age. Simply put, if she still wears a uniform to school, don't even think about it (don't get them confused with the Nonghyup girls, though). |

Actually, it is not reassuring that you have a group of friends that need to know the answer to this question. |

Sure they can. But the poster above was probably wondering why is it such a concern that you have to make a post about it? Anyway just don't approach anyone under 21 and all your bases should be covered. |

Can she legally drive? Can she legally drink beer? Is she out of high school? Has she actually gone through puberty? Does she have an interest in life other than 'flower boys' and 'shopping'?
If the answer is 'no' to any of these questions its time to keep walking. |

if it came up in casual conversation with one person, no reason why not to talk about it. as responsible adults and all that.
but several? with different people? different times? you seem to be way too interested in it.

and that bothers you...
why don't you pop down to your local police station and ask them what the legal age in Korea is? I'm sure they'll be happy to address your deep concerns. |

| The Seoul Metro Police Snitchboard reports that it is 19 (the legal age to buy alcohol and cigarettes). |

| I thought any girl over 14 was legal in Korea...I could be mistaken though. |

I've heard various ages....who knows...as already said, to be sure to not get in trouble, college-age and above.
Older Koreans still have an irrational belief that their young women are all chaste and pure.

Found this. |
i found this as well, but somehow i doubt the legitamcy of that site. surely 13 is not correct and the people that refute it there provide no source.

whats wrong with wanting to find the answer? a curious mind will seek, ask and search until the real answer is found. no matter the topic. what if we asked "is pi exactly 3.14 or something else.... nobody knows... oh well, guess it doesnt matter. i'll just say 3.15 to be safe" |

Why do you want to know the answer to THIS particular question though? As you say, you are not interested in dating someone of questionable age so it's a rather worthless piece of trivia, no? |
