I'll be spending some time in Seoul this spring and early summer - away from the beaches down here in Busan, such as they are - and I'd rather not look like Casper the Pasty White Ghost when I get back down here. So where's a good place to catch some rays and maybe melanoma (smog aside) in the Seoul area? Koreans aren't much into taking shirts off, but is there a place where this might be acceptable?

You could go to a tanning salon. There's a few massage (real massage, not anma) places in Itaewan. I think the one above Burger King has tanning beds.

Or just go to the swimming pool at the Hyatt or Sheraton Walker hotels.

Is there any advantage to that over the massage place?

Some very very visual advantages yes. You get to share your suntanning experience, let's say.
