|
|
I heard that there was one in Itaewon or somewhere in Seoul? Maybe I'm wrong and it was all a dream.
I was sort of hoping to get my hair straightened once while I'm here. I was wondering if someone has an address or phone number I could possibly reach a place. I just have an inkling that a lot of Korean hair salons wouldn't be able to really work with my hair.
Then again, I could be wrong. All the better if they can. Then maybe I'll just go to the ones in my area.
Sorry if this topic has already been done. I seem to be having problems with the search option. |

Koreans all have black hair, so any hair shop should suffice.
Seriously though. I have seen what you are looking for in Itaewon in the same ally way where Sultan Kebab is. The propriertors are African women. |

Ha-ha, I see what you did there.
And thanks for the info. I've never actually been to Itaewon (yet) but I'm gonna assume it's not to difficult to figure out where is where in the area. |

There are two more shops on the north side of the main street (the side with Hamilton Hotel - a large and fairly obvious landmark you'll find when you get there). To get there, walk towards Noksapyeong station (so the hotel will be on your right side if you are walking out of exit 1 (the KFC exit.) You will pass two alleys and will turn right at the third (there is a crosswalk with lights at this one.) Walk up the hill. The first store will be on your left just past OK Kitchen (restaurant.) The next one is a little was up and will be on your right. If you pass two little shops selling fruits out front you've gone too far.
I sent someone I worked with there, and she wasn't too impressed, but then again it's hard for a girl to find a good hairdresser. I've gone to 4 different places and I'm still unsatisfied!
Hope the directions are clear. |

| I'll try to figure it out. I can usually figure out directions. Though having a number of the building or something would be nice. |

Go to Itaewon Station and take exit 3. When you reach the top make a u-turn just to the intersection (but don't cross it) go left and at the first alley go left again. This street seems to have the highest concentration of black businesses. You can see African hairdressers, restaurants and some small shops catering to black customers.
My directions are good so you can't get lost! |

Go to itaewon. Last time I was there people were coming up to me giving me cards for hairdressers.
Tomorrow i have an appointment to get a sew in. I will let you know how it goes, and if the lady offers relaxers too. |

| You may want to try the Family Hair Shop in Itaewon. The shop is located across the street from Starbucks, just as you walk up the little hill. They do relaxers, color, weaves and fantastic pedicures! |

| I've heard family hair is really good. I get my hair braided and there are no shortage of people walking around handing out their cards for that. Also at some of the hair braiding places they have sinks and beauty products so maybe they do hair as well , but I wouldn't want to experiment. |

i got my sew in from ebony hair shop. She could have used better quality hair, but the craftsman ship was very good. I am pleased.
A lady came in to get a relaxer and i watched her get it done from the other worker there. I wouldnt go there for fancy or reolutionary styling, just a touch up. They used Organic Root stimulator olive oil No-Lye relaxer to do her hair.
Overall its a good place to maintain. Not one of the best salons but its not terrible either. It will do as a good backup or a place to keep your current style maintained. |

Go to Itaewon. Ask directions to McDonalds. With Mc Donalds at your back, if you look across the street, slightly to your left up a little slope, you will see a 2 storey building with sign that say's Family Hair Care. They Speak English and can handle most kinds of hair. In particular, fancy stuff, chemicals, color, cuts etc. For black hair, ask for Ms. Kang. She is amazing!! 30+ years experience with black hair. (I think they charge a bit too much for braiding though).
If you have a natural hairstyle or want braids or weaves however, you are better off going to Essence hair shop. Directions: Itaewon Station. With the Hamilton Hotel at your back, walk straight down passing Geckos on your right and Coldstone on your left. At the first corner (after the convenience store), turn left into the alley. Essence will be on your left probably about 4 buildings from the corner. It is located on the 2nd floor. Lots of other braiders in that street can do a decent job, but Grace at Essence is an actual stylist.
Good luck. |

| No idea about prices. I'd like to know about them myself actually, but I've always found getting my hair done to be a bit pricey. :/ |
