I would think they do, but I'm nervous about going to a country that doesn't find humor in cute kittens. Do you think as ESL teachers, we should not be promoting the good humour in lolcats because the cats speak with such poor grammar?

Honestly, they probably wouldn't get it. This is a country where StarCraft sound effect impersonators are considered "comedians" and earn top dollars. "Comedy" in Korea is incredibly different than in America. In fact, some would say there's no real comedy at all in Korea.

Whenever my parents are preparing their cat's canned salmon flavored cat food, he is very clearly mispronouncing the word "now".

rabies was enzootic up to 1975 in Korea.

Then, a resurgence of the disease was noted in 1993, and a continuous increase of rabies cases was observed during the following years.

This is what some Korean guy did to a cat -

I dont know, Im not a big fan of comedy in Korea... but I really hate the stuff that passes for comedy back home. Will Ferrell movies are the worst things ever... I dont know how that can even be called comedy

Just the fact that cats are not very popular as a pet in Korea doesn't mean they can't be seen as cute or funny in such pictures.

What's not to "get" about lolcats? Do you speak fluent Korean (near native level)? If you watch a comedy/talk show on Korean TV, do you fully understand gazillions of words they speak for an hour? What is real comedy?
