Surprises me. One thing I always admired was that the elederly are well looked after by their familly in this country. The figures in this report came as a shock.

This does not surprise me even a little. From what I have seen, a lot of the family relationship stuff here us built mostly on a sense of duty. When someone does not like their duty, they start to resent it and the ones who cause it. Most Koreans have a strong sense of duty toward their families and even extended families. Often, this sense of duty has them doing things they really don't want to do. Women often hate taking care of their husbands' parents. Many also have not enjoyed being so busy making food for the holidays. These days, I think it is changing and families are trying to be less demanding of each other.
