Whose CRC isn't clean and is working in Korea on an E-2?

I have a theory as to why the CRC loophole is big enough to fly a 747 through...

Some with criminal records are 'liked' and their records are kept hidden in the closet if they are found out. Those who are not liked and are found out are cycled out, but for superfluous reasons. A teacher's criminal past is kept hidden from the Korean authorities in either case, for if it becomes known that there are some in Korea working on unclean CRCs who lied to the consulates about their closet skeletons, the CRC loophole may be closed and FBI or Interpol checks for all may become required.

Somebody out there did a great job of selling the Koreans on the idea that "Statewide checks are good enough" for those from the USA. This loophole is big enough to fly a whole squadron of 747s through.

I know you're speaking figuratively... but 747s never fly in a squadron. Wink

I find it a little difficult to follow at least some of your 'theory'.

The CRC has to pass through immigration i.e. an immigration officer to be cleared for an E2 visa.

Are you suggesting that the employer somehow bribes or passes information onto the immigration officer? How else would he or she know that the applicant is 'liked' in whatever sense of the word ....

I'm not from the States so I don't know much about the state-wide checks verses the federal(?)

Although immigration officers do seem to have a lot of discretion, it would seem almost impossible to apply your 'like' verses 'dislike' theory in any uniform manner.

Yeah... but that was KAL 007 in a dive with the throttles pushed forward after the Russians said "Woops".

I recently got my CRC from the state I live in and did find it interesting that it will be good despite the fact I have only lived here a short time compared to where I used to live. Not that I have anything to hide but someone could easily move and get a clean CRC from a new state where they have no history.

I know someone that had a dirty CRC and arrived and began work. Later to be deported.

It was a felony drug charge and I do know.

She didn't make it 2 weeks in Korea.

Upon asking why she was terminated, "a problem with her CRC"

I know about the felony charge because poor little Kimberly asked my advice about it, the day she arrived.

I assume she asked too many people's advice, and someone ratted her out.

Umm.... so she actually made it to Korea... managed to get the go ahead from immigration, but still wasn't happy, and had to go running around asking total strangers who could just be nasty people for their advice on the bad thing she did? And not just asking random people on the internet who don't know her or where she works, but people who work with her? Wow, definition of: asking for it...

She wasn't all there anyway...

- I don't care about being 'patriotic' but this girl was down right unpatriotic to a point of self hatred. Plus, a total conspiracy nut.

- A Yale phd graduate. Claimed to have been teaching princes in Saudi-land prior to Korea, and a non-stop bragger.

The list goes on and on. She couldn't shut her mouth for her own good.

LOL, ya, had one of them in college. First of all, there were ghosts who lived in her family's mansion on the beach that would talk to her, but she lived in an apartment right now because they were "renovating" the mansion. Plus, there was a "ghost" who was in her car when she rode around alone~! Ummmm.... and actually, things just got worse from there.....

LOL

I fail to see why that would be a problem with anyone. To quote George Bernard Shaw: "Patriotism is a pernicious, psychopathic form of idiocy"

There is a difference between patriotic and having an understanding of where you grew up versus hating yourself and where you come from, for no real reason. Even some indifference would have been appreciated.

Porchmonkey, take your own advice first.
