I visit Seoul usually once every few months, and whenever I do, I usually go to the same places because I don't really know where else to go. I've heard a few things about a good mall called COEX. I hear there's a great movie theater there. However, I can't find it on any of the maps I have. So where is this place? I know the basics of Seoul geography, so if someone can tell me what part of town it's in and what famous/recognizable buildings are immediately next to it, I would be grateful. |

It's south of the river on Line 2 (the green one) ... get out at Samseong Station (it's about 3 stops west of Jamsil) and I think it's exit 6... however, there are signs directing you to COEX. |

Whatever you do don't take a taxi from Insa-dong to COEX during rush hour, unless you have mad money... |

From downtown (Sejong Arts Hall, Seoul Station, Namdaemun, Hilton) you can take 83-1 to get there. It's something of a scenic bus ride as it goes up around Namsan. From Itaewon you can take an express bus (I believe it's 996- can't remember exactly but it's definitely 99*something* and I don't think there are any other buses that go down the Itaewon strip that it can be confused with). Call me crazy but I prefer buses over the subway.

Oh I see, so it's down near Kangnam. I was thinking it might be by City Hall or Gwanghwamun for some reason (that's where I usually end up). I only went to Kangnam once to check out the Kukkiwon, but I've never known where to hang out there. Thanks waterbaby and buddy bradley for the tips, I'll have to check it out this weekend. |

Oh I didn't see your post Bulsajo, thanks for the info. However, I'm more of a subway guy like goodfella. Buses drive me nuts, because whenever they get stopped, I always feel like getting out and walking. Subways are more predictable -- it feels like you're making real progress when you ride the subway. |

I thought you "try it just for fun" was in response to Bulsajo's comment about not liking the subway. |
