I am reviewing an application(not contract) about teaching with GEPIK (through Korvia consulting). Anyway, I am trying to catch the "fine print" and I was wondering do they pay for airfare or is it up to me and then get reimbursed?
FYI: This will be my second time teaching in Korea. I am in the states now and trying to go back. last time I taught in Korea the school paid for everything--airfare to and from US,room and board.
Also, I am retired US military so I can catch Space A flights to Korea but just can NOT guarantee an exact arrival date.
PS: This is my first time to deal with Korvia Consulting and GEPIK so any comments and/or advice about either one is greatly appreciated. |

When I worked for GEPIK they were supposed to pay/ reimburse my airfare. Once I actually started working at the school they said they would not pay for my flight. GEPIK broke our contract many times, so I suggest being careful. I'm sure there are many people working for GEPIK that have never had a problem, but I just wanted to make you aware that problems do arise with public schools.
At that time the employee was supposed to present a ticket/receipt and the school would reimburse for the flight. Now I believe the school provides a flat rate up to 1.3 million for flights, but I'm not positive.
Good Luck. |

EPIK pays the 1.3 million. GEPIK will refund the money when you show documentation. If you are in the country already though they will only give you the settlement allotment of 300k.
The 300k should be given on the first day arriving to both in country and out of country teachers. |

I got my GEPIK job through Korvia.
I paid for my flight and was reimbursed when I got to Korea. This is standard procedure these days to avoid people taking advantage of them.
Save your receipt. |

| I've just quit after thee weeks and am sitting in a hotel before I fly back to the Uk tonight, if you have a tefl/celta/tesol certificate, stay away from GEPIK and public schools, co teachers tend to be hostile tend towards native English speakers because they earn more and what's more I have learnt from experiencethat it's far better to have a class all to yourself and you won't get that in a public school. |

Sorry it didn't work out for you but your experience is not representative of GEPIK or public schools in general. |
