I'm planning on going to the Philippines for winter vacation, but recently my parents told me that a friend of there's had said that it is very unsafe for foreign women. Something about them targeting white women to sell into prostitution.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? Or has anyone been there and can set my mind at ease? |

Stay out of the back alleys in Manila, the hooker bars in Angles city and stay away from southwestern Mindanao (Zamboanga and Sulyu) and you will be just fine.
The safest region is the central region (the Visayas) and you will find the people are friendly and easy to get along with. (Luzon and the northern region is having weather problems since it is in the typhoon belt) |

| I think this thread belongs in the Travel forum. As for this forced prostitution on white female tourists, I would be extremely surprised if that has ever happened in the Philippines. |
