I'm heading to Sokcho to do a few day hikes in Seoraksan in a few weeks. I'm expecting it to be a zoo, so I'm hoping to find a few trails that are less congested. I don't have my own wheels, so I need trails that are accessible by bus. Do any of you have any recommended trails there that are relatively quiet?
Thanks for any advice |

There are very few trails in the park. They keep the hikers on specified areas so the place does not get beaten down. The best one I have found is to go in from Bak Dam Sa temple, you can take a bus from Sokcho, about an hour, it is the west end of the park.
Or you can take bus 1-1 to the last stop and hike in from the south entrance. Both of these go over Dae Chun Bong Mountain but I have heard a rumor, not for sure, that the trail over the mountain is closed to let the area recover from hiking.
If you go in the main gate, taking bus 7 or 7-1 from Sokcho, there will not be many people after a mile or two. Nice waterfalls. |
