I foolishly got the FBI CBC last month and sent it to my employer with the believe that FBI CBC does not need an apostille. Time is ticking and I don't know how to get an apostille on this. I've called several states' secretary of state, but all have refused to apostille a federal document. Has this been done before?
Here is the update from WV secretary of state as it has been done before, but not possible now:

Also, I should mention that the new FBI CBC has no fingerprints attached. |

The FBI DOES NOT apostille...trust me, I tried. You will have to take that document and send it to a private firm to have an apostille.
I am speaking from recent experience...just send it to an apostille company (I used www.authxperts.com, who were awesome!) and have it apostilled by them. Immigration WILL NOT accept it without the apostille.
It will save you a lot of aggravation and hassle by having it done for less than $200. If you are lucky, your job will reimburse you. Good luck, but save yourself time and grief and get it apostilled by a private company. |
