Hey guys. I've been asked to provide a UK criminal records check for a job. I looked on the website of the CRB and they state that individuals can not apply for a CRB. Therefore, I am wondering how it can be done! Is a UK police check from the police station accepted?
Thanks |

You don't need a full blown CRB just a disclosure, you have to get it notarized down in Milton Keynes though which is a ball ache. |

You can also get a criminal record check at your local police station (it's 10 cheaper than the Basic Disclosure but takes ages). |

i got a disclosure online. they promise a 10 working day turnaround and it cost 22 quid. It was disclosure scotland but i'm sure there'll be a U.K wide one. As if they'll know the difference anyways.
also, something called a subject access check ( gives any info on the police computer ) that cost a tenner does the trick but takes a while.
as for notary, i took mine to a guy in busan but the embassy in seoul does them aswell.
however, immi from city to city differs here. The main guys in seoul said i didn't need one ( 3rd year ) but masan insisted on it. |

The Disclosure (Scotland) is the U.K. wide criminal record check. |

yep, same here......very quick and a bit cheaper. I then got it notarised at the British embassy in Seoul. So much less hassle than having to send it the thing back and forth to a lawyer to have it signed, then sent to family and then getting it sent here. |

It can take up to 40 days. The Basic Disclosure takes 14(?) working days (I received mine in 3). |

Just one of them. It's up to you which one (but if you're going soon, your best bet would be the Basic Disclosure). |

I agree to get a basic disclosure from disclosure scotland, it took less than a week for mine to come through.
Save yourself a lot of hassle and once you apply give them a call and ask for it to be stamped and signed by the director of Disclosure Scotland. This is free and is the same as having it notarized by a lawyer. Will save you a bit of money and hassle finding a lawyer. I did this and had no problems. |
