Most police officials under special supervision for unprofessional conduct or to reassess competence have been moved to district branch offices of police stations, where they come into direct contact with citizens. |

Anyone see the absurdity here... Hey, these guys are gamblers, unreliable, violent and some of them crazy! Hey, I know let's give em jobs that require 'soundest character.'

I've got a funny feeling that just about every cop in Korea is somehow directly engaged in the skin trade also. |

I've been under the impression that they're enablers of the trade, but I'm not sure if they're directly involved. I think it's likely that they demand bribes, kickbacks, protection money, and probably freebies from the cathouses to look the other way.
They have stations at each red light district and are polite to customers in them. I really don't think the police enforce laws in Korea. To me, it looks like South Korea is a mafiocracy and the police are just a dog and pony show.
To the credit of Koreans, they have a great culture and do a great job of being civil without any real police. We in America have tons of police who actually enforce the laws, but we're crazy and lack civility. I guess it goes to show that if you treat people like animals, they'll act like animals. |

Yes, interesting. Whilst small violations are common place (especially with driving ) and are mostly overlooked, there doesn't appear to be as much major criminal violations here such as drugs and murder, serial killers etc... (this may be due to lack of reporting as any sociology stdnt would know, but I'm not sure of the stats in Korea...) |
