The question is, how long do we wait until we run to the bank and send home all our savings? I might wait and see if it hits 1,800.

Sweet!

When I first came the exchange rate was 1600 won to a pound.

I'd be happy if it goes down to 1700 won.

It's not entirely awesome considering the pound is declining against other currencies as well as the Won. If you are paying off debts back home or intend to go back and live in the UK after this, fantastic. But, if like me you are intending to go somewhere else after Korea it's not that great. I'm moving to Berlin next year and at the moment the interest I am making on my savings is barely allowing me to break even on what my money would have been worth a few months ago. If it starts to decline even more, I'm going to have to start thinking about opening a foreign currency account back home and cashing some of my savings into Euros to protect against further devaluation.

At the moment some are predicting the Pound will reach parity with the Euro by the end of this year....good news for some, bad news for others like me!

Why don't you keep your money in Korean won for now? Or you could open an account in Euros, US Dollars or Chinese RMB at KEB bank instead. It'd be silly to keep converting it to pounds if they're expected to keep declining..

I already have most of my savings as pounds in the UK already. I am not sending money back home at the moment, however the problem with keeping my money as Euros at KEB is that I don't currently have a Euro account back in Europe to receive the funds.

The foreign currency account doesn't allow you to cash out and if sending currency back home, it'll convert whatever funds you have to the currency of the receiving country.

I sold w10,000,000 less than a month ago at 2,060/1. It's at around 1,940 at the moment (the buying/sending rate, that is)
