I was wondering how tough it is to switch from a student visa (D2 or D4) to a working visa (E2), in light of the new regulations etc?

I wil be studying at Sogang from December right the way through to May 14th of next year. Between that I intend to travel in Asia for a short while and then re-enter Korea inorder to apply for any public school positions starting from August/September (EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE).

I am wondering if it possible to do this without returning to the UK. I am already inquring whether I can get a crb check from the UK whilst in Korea. I presume I can get any medical check in Korea and I already know about the visa run to Fukoka.

Galbijim has been helpful but what concerned me was the line 'All new applicants must have an interview at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate in their home country.' And it also says 'But for now, criminal background certificates need to be apostilled by a notary public in their home country'.

Does anyone have any furtehr info about this or the process in general? Will I have to return to the UK to finalise everything ie get apostilled at the Korean embassy/consulate.

Thanks
