				| I think I'm going to get a season pass (about 350,000 won) for High1 this year.
Anyone do it last year? Was it worth it?

Is the snow really better than at Yongpyong and Phoenix Park?

 Thanks.

				| I did a bit of boarding at High 1 and Phoenix Park last year and I thought the snow was better at the latter. It probably had more to do with High 1 being ridiculously crowded, and Phoenix Park being practically empty because of the times I went than actual average snow quality.
I been buying season passes for Sajo in Suanbo. It's one of the smallest and crappiest ski resorts, but it's only 15 minutes down the road from where I live. I'm looking forward to this year's season.

				| I boarded last season at High 1. Yes, it is ridiculously crowded. Also a season pass cost 500 thousand won. You can get a 50% doscount if you've been living in Gangwon-do for 6 months. The snow was average but the facilities are quite good. | |

				| Did you go weekends or weekdays? I can't imagine it being too crowded on weekdays, which is when I'll be going. I thought Phoenix Park would be busier because it's near the expressway and thus easy to get to. Did that High1 train make the resort crowded?

500,000 won last year? It's much cheaper this year.

Ya, the rumor is true. The snow is better. It's not like we're talking about powder though. The snow isn't that much better. For me, I'm more worried about grooming as the powder in Korea is almost invisible. Pheonix does a good job of grooming and the crowds on the higher level runs are thin so they stay fresh longer.

I'd make money and distance a priority over snow...cause I don't think the difference in snow is worth it. If distance and money are the same as Phoenix...then I'd switch. As it is I'm not sold. Some friends of mine are though...it's a choice, but I don't think you'll really regret either choice...we're talking minimal differences.

The biggest choice for me would be between Yongpyong and the other two. Yongpyong just isn't worth it. Over rated. Bad lift system, narrow runs that don't let you make ripping GS turns when there are a few other carve junkies on the slope.

If you're set on either Phoenix or High1 I might be able to introduce you to some folks who ride there regularly. I'm trying o convince them to stay at Phoenix, they are keen to see High1...

				| I'm also intrigued about the upcoming winter season. Is it too expensive just to buy day tickets and check out different resorts each week? I'll mostly be riding on Sundays and Mondays, do the free transport shuttles/buses/trains run on weekdays? | |

				| High 1 is much bigger and better than everything else, but they still don't have a proper terrain park. | |

				| I just realized that High1's pass (called D-10) is good for just 10 days. Don't they have a season pass?! | |

				| I seem to have found the skier/boarder, so I hope the OP doesn't mind if I ask a few questions.
 1. Which resort has the best park? (I'm not expecting Whistler of course)

 2. What resort do you think is the best comprise between terrain, crowds, money, and travel from Seoul? I've heard there are some good buses from Seoul to the resorts.

				| I've only been to Yongpyong and Muju. I liked that Yongpyong is big and I've enjoyed pretty empty slopes on weekdays. The downside is a lot of ice and, as one of the other posters said, some of the trails are a bit skinny.
Muju is pretty crap and is only of value if you live nearby, I think. It's just too warm there and too crowded.

I think all resorts have ski buses that leave from Seoul and High1 even has a special train. I've never used them because I live close to the resorts. Check their websites.

				| Like I said, season pass is 500K or 250K for Gangwon resident (at least it was last season). It is generally less busy on weekedays; the night sessions were the least crowded last year. A new resort has just opened in nearby Taebaek (O2 Resort). I haven't been, but maybe the competition will push prices down and help with overcrowding. | |
