|
|
Hey guys,
I'm trying to transfer some cash back to Natwest bank in the UK. But the bank is not listed on the website drop down menu.
There is no option to type in the bank name...what do you do?
Cheers! |

Haha my reaction exactly!
Just pop into your local bank and request Online Banking - they will set you up then and there. You need to set a couple of passwords first and they will give you a card with numbers on that you will need to enter onto your computer.
Be warned - you have to register a security certificate to your computer and every other computer you want to use to get access to your account. Basically you have to go through the register process for every computer you use to bank online. But once it's on there its done.
So I got that far and can see my account - just can't bloody decide where the shove the cash!!
Good luck |

| I have Shinhan online banking but I was unaware that you could do Foreign Remittance on it. I've done lots of online transfers to banks in Korea but never had the chance to or seen how to do it online. Care to coment if this is the setup you have? Thanks. |

You can just put the certificate on a USB stick, problem solved. You need that stupid security program installed on every computer though, which made IE (which you HAVE to use) crash endlessly on my home computer. Korean website design is so terrible
If you get a little card with a bunch of numbers to register a certificate, don't throw it away. |

Switch to KEB. They offer an EZ Plus account with online banking. You give them the details of your bank in the UK, which they attach to your EZ Plus account. Every time you transfer money from your main account to your EZ Plus account it automatically gets transferred to your bank back home.
I bank with Natwest as well and have used this method to transfer money home many times....always without a hitch it arrives back in the UK within 48 hours. |

Excellent. Thanks for the tip folks. I'm NatWest too.
Do you have a computer at home or do you do it at work or in an internet cafe? Just thinking that I won't have internet at home straight away, if at all.

| How much does the Natwest charge you guys to receive money from abroad? Presumably less than the ridiculous 40 pounds the Halifax takes from me... |

Great advice thank you!
Turns out Shinhan is a lot more of a pain in the arse than first expected.
Off to KEB |

i second the above advice about KEB. i use their internet banking. i have barclays back home. after the intial setup that you are doing. i now send money home for about 8,000 won (barclays charge a bit to recieve too though) and its in my barclays account within 6 hours on a weekday.
i had to go into KEB and ask them to register the UK account for online usage. maybe shinhan have the same deal. also, if you have a public school job, then you can get t money/international usage credit card at KEB. |

| i think they charge about 6-8 quid. i cant remember. i remember to send like a million won home usually cost me total of less than 12 pound inc fees this end. sorry i cant be more specific. however its really nice as it comes in the same day (in my case anyhow). i have a standard graduate current account. nothing special. |

Wow! Sounds like you are getting a good deal compared to me. It costs me about 46 pounds! . The Halifax helps themselves to forty pounds! But not anymore. Think I shall open a new additional account in the Natwest next time I visit England.
When the Natwest receive your money, do they give you all the money at the exchange range agreed with your Korean bank at the time of authorization or do they tweak it at their end and help themselves to some of your money? |

| im with barclays, not natwest. but you should be able to set it up from here if you keep a postal address at home. also i have a natiowide account. they allow you to withdraw money without charging commission or a fee. ive done it recently and no fee was charged. i just have a standard cash card account, no debit/electron etc. i can only withdraw. though i do have internet banking with the account. |

| Tangent--I'm trying to send money from a KEB account to a Nonghyup account. Nonghyup, for some weird reason, isn't on the drop down list (although every other bank is, no matter how small, and including some american banks). Anyone have any advice? |
