|
|
| I'm wanting to go visit a friend in Suwon this holiday. He's off for 5 days. Any idea what days the larger majority of folks will be off? I have to drive as I'm taking my bike and he's not anywhere near a subway route. I really want to avoid the normal crush of holiday traffic. I have to drive as I'm taking my bike and he's not anywhere near a subway route. |

| Well, uh, I don't work. I'm always off. I'm coming from Incheon, Songdo to be specific. |

I'm going to assume that you're talking about going by motorcycle to visit your friend in Suwon. The worst traffic during Chuseok is going to be on the major toll highways from Seoul to Busan and most places in between. You cannot ride your motorcycle on those toll roads, so you're going to have to ride on the local roads. They should be in much better shape. Most people when they drive home for the holidays here leave early in the am and drive until late at night. If you're worried about that, try leaving after dinner or later. Be careful and don't drink and then ride your bike. There will be plenty of sobriety checkpoints during the Chuseok commute.
Chuseok is on a Saturday this year, so I would imagine that Wednesday and Thursday going to one's hometown and Sunday will probably be a miserable day to be on one of the major highways returning home with a million plus other equally unfortunate people. |

gyeonggi-do will be far from fine. you need to head through gyeonggi-do to get literally anywhere outside of seoul. heading from incheon to suwon will be a bit easier, but there is plenty of potential for awful traffic. |

Sorry that's kinda what I meant. The worst traffic extends in a ring from outer gyeonggi do |
