I am an American citizen married to a Canadian citizen. We have just returned from two years in Korea. I'm attempting to get my Canadian residency. One of the things required is a police clearance from all the countries we have lived in, which includes Korea. I can find information on how a Korean person can obtain police certification from outside of Korea (a parent or sibling can apply for you), but I can find no information on a non-Korean getting a certification from outside Korea. Has anyone obtained a police certification from Korea while living outside of Korea? |

I have tried more than 10 times. Sent and sent and sent.. Did it properly. Went through the Korean embassy (Singapore, Van, ATL, SanFran and Toronto). Sent directly to Korea. Called. Faxed. Never, ever, ever received a response. I was then in Korea for a week and did it there at some random police station. The first many I visited refused. Went to some central office. Took a day to process.
If you want to try, contact the ROK embassy near you. Send the documents to them, they send back to you and then you send to ROK. Or, a different embassy might suggest a different path. It won't work. You'll prolly have to drop 2k, pack your bags and head over there. But even that might not work. The Americans will process a visa without the ROK reference. Ask if the Canucks will do so too.
While doing to process, buy some pliers to pull out your teeth for distraction. |
